New District S.R.O., Matt Meng
S.R.O. Meng Starts His SRO Duties With The District, January 2025
Hello!
First, let me take a moment to say that I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Winter Break and Happy New Year! Hopefully, you were blessed with quality time with family and friends. I am excited to be with you for my first semester as your new School Resource Officer (SRO). For those I have not yet met, I look forward to getting to know you over the coming months. While I have a steep learning curve ahead of me, my primary focus will be maintaining a safe learning environment for students and staff. As we progress this semester, I am excited to assist you with any challenges that may arise and help educate students and faculty on law enforcement and school safety issues.
Since this is my first introduction, I want to tell you about myself. I am a lifelong resident of Southwest Kansas. I graduated from Garden City High School and participated in Cross Country, Basketball, and Track. I began my Law Enforcement career at age 21 and graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1997. I have been employed with the Finney County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas Alcoholic Beverage Control, and the 25th Judicial District Community Corrections. In my career, I have served various roles such as a Patrol Deputy, Field Agent, SWAT member, Gang Officer, Firearms Instructor, Defense Tactics Instructor, and Probation Officer. I moved to Sublette in May of 2021 and continued to work in Garden City. In September 2024, I began employment with the Haskell County Sheriff’s Office.
I am the proud father of two adult daughters who reside in St. Louis, MO, and Weatherford, OK, along with my two stepchildren, ages 6 and 14, who are currently students in the Sublette School District. I am engaged to my beautiful fiancé, who is employed in the area as a Registered Nurse. Most importantly, I am the proud grandpa (“pee paw”) to Forrest Matthew, age 1. As a family, we enjoy spending time outdoors and doing anything involving sports.
If you need to speak with me or have questions or concerns, I may be reached by email at mmeng@haskellso.org or mmeng@usd374.org. I can also be reached through the office at the Elementary School or High School during business hours. I look forward to working with you during the 2025 spring semester. GO LARKS!
